Mersades Graduation Party

We do things a little different because of our living circumstances... Marz finally had her graduation party in July, when family, especially her dad, could make it home.  It was a nice evening of celebrating Mersades and all of her accomplishments and putting the spotlight on her for just a few hours.

But first... We HAD to get family pictures taken!! :D

Chris doesn't often get one by himself with all the kids, but we did that day.

The fabulous four!

Sweet sisters!

Grandpa Zimmer with all but one of his grandchildren.

Grandma Dorothy with all but one of her grandchildren. Thank you grandma for bringing up the two cousins to join in on the fun!

Grandma Dorothy and her three girls.  It's been a long, long time since this has happened!

Now the cake!  Nothing is as important in one of my kids parties than the cake.  Not because they love to eat it, ice cream will usually do, but because they want the picture for memories.  Well this cake is really no different.... except that Marz loves cake, so a store bought cake just won't do.  Marz also wanted a chocolate frosted cake which is different from my normal, I already know how to do that cake... So a challenge was ahead of me.

And it was challenging!  This was the first attempt... the cake was way to moist and the icing was way to heavy and thick.  It was quite the disaster!!  So I stuck it in the freezer to keep it standing up and not fall over!  Let's just say, after I took it out of the freezer, by the next morning, it was almost laying on its side!!!  The picture does not do the disaster justice!! ;)
Thank goodness for watching many episodes of Cake Boss and remembering that Rice Krispie treats are much lighter and can be made quickly!

The final, much better product!!

Of course, everyone loved the taste of all parts of the cake!  The bottom was chocolate cake, the middle was Rice Krispie treats and the disaster was white cake.  Yes, it can still taste good even though it looks like _ _ _ _!!

The party table.

Grandma Schlomer doing what she does best!  Cooking and serving up a feast!!

Mersades special guest.  Her godfather, aka my younger brother, surprised mom and dad and brought his family up for the party.

Gift opening time.

A very special gift.  A quilt by grandma and grandpa Zimmer!  She will need it to keep away the cold this next winter!!

Congrats once again Marz!! xoxo
