Gavin's Confirmation

Confirmation classes for our kids look just a little different from when I was a kid.  They do it all on line.  Our pastor from our home church, Hope Lutheran in Spearfish, SD meets with them once a week.  "Them" would be Gavin and Gabby.  The kids are in charge of getting themselves up early on their Saturday morning to meet with Pastor on his Friday evening.  Dedication on both parts!  Pastor has been working with Gavin these past two years and now and this last Sunday, Gavin was ready to be confirmed and take his first communion in the church.  Congratulations Gavin!  We are very excited to see what God has planned for your life!

I did manage to remember to take pictures in church after Confirmation, but I forgot a few others... lol!

Grandma and Gavin

All of us!  Marz made it home for the weekend!! Yeah!!

All of us with grandma.

Gavin's God-Parents.  I wish I had the picture of them at Gavin's baptism just to show how much the only one who's changed, in the last 16 years, is Gavin! lol!

At least I remembered to get those pictures....

After church we had lunch at the Pheasant Cove, with 40+ people, to celebrate both Gavin and Teddy!  Since graduation was earlier this summer and with all the events that took place around that, Teddy agreed to have his graduation party with Gavin's confirmation.  So we were also celebrating Teddy with the family.  However, I did not take one picture of Teddy to document that!!  I'm either getting really bad at taking pictures or life has been really busy with lots of life events taking place....  I also forgot the most important part of lunch!!!  The cake!!

The boys love Dairy Queen ice cream, so of course, that was the obvious cake of choice for the celebrations.  However, I FORGOT TO ORDER THE CAKES IN ADVANCE!! I honestly don't know what I do with my life!! 😉

Thankfully, DQ had some cakes on hand and even had Teddy's favorite cookie dough.  They went above and beyond making signs to put on these cakes.

I say "these" cakes... there were three!  I forgot to serve the cakes at the lunch!!  I forgot to take pictures of the cakes with the boys! (Yes, I am rolling my eyes!) We did enjoy the cakes for dinner Sunday night, and Monday night, and I am sure we will have some tonight!  Sorry for you all who missed out! lol 😉

It's been a huge summer with many major life event's going on.  Next week will be another!  I really hope my photography mind is working and I remember to document it!

Congratulations Gavin and Teddy!  God Bless you both!! xoxo

Never mind..... my mom was doing what moms do best... taking pictures... LOL!!
Here's "the rest"...

I LOVE this picture!!  Gavin, your smile!! Makes my heart melt!

Pickles!

...a huge waste of a perfectly fine cucumber!!

I LOVE cucumbers!  It's my most favorite "eating" time of the year when the pickling cucumbers are ready!  I literally eat them by the bushel!  However, I am the only one in my family (mom and siblings) with this opinion and I am sure if you were to ask anyone else who has tried my mom's pickles, they would say I am completely insane!  EVERYONE LOVES HER PICKLES!

Yesterday was the annual pickle making day at the Pheasant Cove.  I had everything ready to go for when the cucumbers arrived.  With all the help we had and my wonderful organizational skills, the process didn't take lone at all. 😉

With help like this, I'm amazed at how great a job was done. 😉

My job... chopping up all the garlic.

The main processor and professional pickle maker... Mom! 😁

The chief lid-screw-er-on-er...

My pathetic stash of cucumbers... No one better touch!! 😉

Just kidding... I had three bags... one just happened to be consumed already for breakfast today.  It's like my "crack".  (No, I do not know what real "crack" feels like.)

Soooooooo Soooooo YUMMY!!

Ha Ha! Sorry I complained...  More "crack" was just delivered to me!!  Yippee!  Thanks Becky!😘

***UPDATE***
I've just been informed that one of my brothers hates pickles just as much as I do!! 😁. Maybe I'm not the only smart one in this family! 😏. ~August 21. 2018

Alfred and Anna Hanson Family Reunion

This past weekend we had the Hanson Reunion.  I usually always talk about the Schlomer side of the family, however, the Hanson side is just as interesting.

There are 11 children to the union of Anna and Alfred Hanson.  My grandma (Agnes) is number nine.  She is one of the four Hanson women who married four Schlomer boys.

Here are the names of the siblings in birth order:
Mable, Hilma, Arnold, Myrtle, Hazel, Vivian, Jenny, Voilet, Agnes, Vernon, Clarence

This picture was taken around 1937.

Around 90 "Hanson's" showed up for the weekend, swapping memories, golfing, playing Corn Hole (I still think that's a dumb name for that game...😏) and most definitely playing Pinochle!

Here are the pictures of the families, in birth order, of the ones who were here at the time of the photos this weekend.  Sorry for the ones who showed up, but whose photos were not taken, and not on the blog.

Because people were asking how old great grandma was when she died... '73 for great grandpa.
