Friend's Birthday Party

Today I had a birthday party for two of my dear friends, Michelle and Donna. The ladies showed up for some "Band Hero" and cards. .....And of course food and cake!!

The Waterfall Hike

A week ago, the whole family and friends of ours, went for a Saturday morning stroll in the jungle. It was your typical walk in the park.... NOT! ;) It was a intense hike up a river and through the jungle to get to the waterfall! We started at an elevation of 6200 ft and ended at approximately 8000 ft! It was my first time but everyone else in the family had done it before. This was the starting point. You can't even see the waterfall from here!

Not very far into the hike we had to use ropes to help us up a very steep part. Marz is taking her turn...

After I got up to the top, I walked back down the Mt. a bit to take this picture of everyone. Not sure why I didn't take it on the way up??? I think it was lack of oxygen to the brain! :)

Gabby testing out how close she could get to the waterfall. It was quite windy and cold at the base. She didn't make it in too far!

But then there is Teddy.... He must have sweated on the climb up. He needed a shower!

It was a great 3 1/2 hour "walk in the park"! ;) The kids had a blast and so did the adults! I have wanted to do this for awhile but it just never had worked out. I am also glad that my best bud's family was where to enjoy the morning with us. A special shout out to another good friend of ours, Steve! He was a great help getting all the kids up and down the mountain safely! Espically Gabby!

The Kids New Toy!

As families move in and out of Tembag, things are sold or given away. Some of these items are hot commodities! One item that is very hot on the scale of hot is a trampoline! And we snagged one!!! The kids were extremely happy and have been using it every day since this weekend! Thank you very much "D" family! :)

Last night I thought the kids needed a good dinner. So I took them to a good steak restaurant we had been to before in Cairns. I am pretty sure the last time we went they all ordered off the kids menu. Well no longer can we do that... Especially the boys! Here is what they had to eat... and then some... Teddy polished off the rest of Gabby's dinner! Oh to eat like that again.. :)

There is this huge statue, of what looks like Jesus flying, in the high hills of Manado. I think it actually is suppose to depict Jesus blessing the city of Manado. If anyone is in doubt, Manado has a huge population of Christians!

Last night Teddy and Gabby joined in and sung Christmas carols with the staff at the hotel. The guy just started playing the music and Ted and Gab just started singing. It's actually a weird feeling singing Christmas songs on a tropical island with no snow! :). I don't think they sang "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." :D

More Diving

Today we all went out diving. M and T, in their advanced divers course, chose to do photography. So we all got suited up and tried to get a family photo underwater. BUT to my sadness, the currant was way too strong for all of us to stay together. So Chris took this picture of the five of us in the water. (Yes, Mersades is in there... you just have to look for her legs!). We did get some cool underwater pics but they are on another camera. Those will come at a later time. Have a great day! :)

Here is just a quick update on our vacation in Manado. Mersades and Teddy are getting their "Advanced Divers" certification. Gavin is getting his PADI certification. Chris is taking the class with Gavin and Gabby and I just finished our "Bubbler" program. So now we are all officially "divers". but as is always the case, I did not get any pictures of me in my gear and since gabby was with me, she didn't get any pictures in her diving gear also. Oh well... next time... ;)

House Update!!!!!

STOP!!! If you haven't read the post below, DO SO NOW before you read any further!

So the morning after I posted my last house update, life carried on as normal as it can here. I got the kids to school, did my bahasa homework then went to bahasa class. A friend of mine across town wanted a video, that we had, so I took it to her. We had lunch and then I stayed at her house until I had to get the kids from school.

Around 2 o'clock, I made the comment that she had a great view of my "dual" colored roof! We both just laughed and rolled our eyes! So at 2:30 I left to go get the kids from school. The Roof was still a "dual" color roof!

On Thursday's, I teach the kids volleyball after school. When that was finished, we went to the Coffee Shop to have an early dinner. Momma didn't have anything ready to do for dinner!

After dinner, we took the 5 o'clock bus home. When I got off the bus, much to my surprise, I now see a ONE color roof!!! I was totally shocked!! On two issues.... 1. The roof is all one color!! and 2. The time it took to do it! Remember I left my friends house at 2:30 and it was still a "dual" colored roof!!! It was all finished in 2 1/2 hours!!! I am going to make a wild guess that that was the fastest anything was or will be done on the house!!!

I guess the "Love Shack" title will have to wait....

But wait......... As I walk around the back of the house...... IT'S STILL A "DUAL" COLORED ROOF!!

Those boys sure didn't let me down! ;) I have the "Love Shack" in the BACK!!

Hmmm, Now I wonder what the natives will think when they walk the trail behind the house??? :D

Sorry Q & R (my bro and his wife), you can no longer have dibs on the title of "Love Shack" for your house! One, because you are moving into your new house.... And two, because our "Love Shack" is way more shacky than yours!!!

Check it out!! We have a "dual" colored roof!!! What the heck???

Actually we knew we were going to have two colors on our roof because of issues..... BUT they told us it was all going to be red in the front and green in the back! I guess they didn't want to open another can of worms by taking the back red metal sheets off the back of the house! Who knows what they would have found??? ;)

But now, to top off the "dual"colored roof.... Look what else they are putting on the house!!!

Yup, a DARK green for the gutters.... added with the LIGHT green that is already on the house.... (check them out in the picture above) Topped off with BROWNISH RED down spouts!! I am going to take a wild guess and say they are going to paint the down spouts but I really don't want to make that BIG of an assumption!! :D

There was a cake competition in town a couple of weeks ago... I wasn't going to participate, because I thought a "professional" couldn't compete.... Also, would it be fair???? Well, everyone was begging for a "Bugaboo Cake", so I entered! .....And WON! ;)
I also have discovered I have an "Assistant" in training....Miss Mersades! :)

Mersades and I both had a great time making the cake. There are quite a few challenges to making a cake like this here in Tembag, but we conquered most of them! We won Best Decorated, and Best Chocolate!! I was very surprised at the best chocolate, but I really think it's the icing that everyone Loves!! :) Oh well, what ever works... ;)

Gabby's 8th Birthday

Well, let's see... What to do with another birthday?? House is too small to have kids over after school for a party... Too rainy in the afternoon... Another one at the covered park... What to do, what to do??? I am really out of ideas and ambition to do another party!

I know..... Let's take the girls to the salon to get their nails and hair done, and then dress up for a "fancy" dinner at the Lupa Lelah! Perfect! Not too much work for mom, and the girls will love it!! Now just to sell it to Gabby!

Well the idea was sold, BUT, we had to invite the boys from her class... No, not to the salon, but to the dinner. Well how hard could that be??? (sigh) I know boys, I actually have two! But what the heck? It's for the children.... or Gabby... :)

First off.... To the salon...

Gatot and Gabby... Gatot is one of my favorites to go to for a massage.... He even does hair!

Ok, at this point, I really should have caught on.... Gatot can do LONG hair, so he doesn't have a clue what to do with Gabby. At least he went to find help! I also should have recognized that Gabby was not having a good time! How could I forget she HATES having her hair done!!! When she cries every morning from brushing her OWN hair, how could she enjoy this??? Maybe it was wishful thinking on my part....

Ten minutes after I took this picture, one of the hair gals came and got me... Gabby was CRYING!!!

Ok, STOP the tape! Just forget Gabby's hair and get the rest of the girls done......

So now we are all dressed up and ready to meet the boys.... WOW, don't they look fantistic!!

70's Party

I have never played dress-up as an adult so much as we do here in Tembag! The elevation must be getting to our heads, or just a bit of boredom... Who knows??? Oh well, this one was for a good cause! The Paupan Education Foundation held a 70's party to help raise funds for... well you guessed it.... Paupan Education! Thanks goodness my parents had these costumes laying around the lodge this summer...
So I packed them up, and waited for this night to happen! I totally couldn't contain my excitement on having to put these "Oh so comfortable polyester clothes" on! I must say Chris was a good sport, and played the role to a tee! Scary!!! And my bestie... Michelle My Belle... joined in on the fun! So without waiting any longer... Here are the....

Well our time in the States has ended... :( We head back to Indonesia tomorrow. I thought I would get in one update from the Summer of 2011 while I had "good" Internet. So here is a "brief" summary of SOME of the things we did, not ALL.... :)

Started off with fishing...

Said good bye to Mr. Riely...

Went Camping...

Road the go-karts...

Tried to beat the boys in mini put put...

Went swimming in the river...

Shore fishing with Grandpa....

Ate lots and lots of watermelon...

Watched a parade...

Went on some CRAZY carnival rides...

Watched fireworks...

Took a trip to "Schlomerville"...

Read a few hundred books...

Learned some bad habits...

Played dress-up and had a tea party...

Watched the crops grow...

Disobeyed the signs...

Went shore fishing again in the "Magic Bus"...

Caught one heck of a "Cat"...

And some snakes.... YUCK!!!

And fished one more time...

There were so many more things that we did. But I either didn't have my camera along, or for what ever reason, the pictures that I took, I can't get to download correctly from my camera. I must have put it on a setting I don't know how to use! I guess I have 10 more months to figure out how to use the camera before we come back for some more fun!

It was great to see everyone.... and for those who we did not catch up with, sorry! Hopefully we can the next time around.

Today our family dog of almost 14 years died. We were very lucky and blessed to have such a great dog in our family!

These pictures were just taken last week. I am so glad we could be home and see him one more time. :)

My Drum Collection

One of the types of "Art" I like to collect here, are Drums. These drums are made by the different Papuan Tribes on this island. Recently people from the Komoro tribe were visiting Tembagapura and showing off their carving skills. They also put on a "dancing" show. While dancing, they use these drums to keep the rhythm. After they are done with the show, they sell the drums.
Teddy came along with me to get the drum, after their last performance. Pictured with Teddy is Kal Muller (sp?), the anthropologist who lives with the tribe, and the Komoro tribesman who carved the drum.

I think I am now up to 8 or 9 of the drums. (Actually there are 10 there!) :)

The tallest of these drums, is about 4 ft. There is a wonderful collection of them at the Rimba Hotel in the Lowlands. I would love to get my hands on a few of those! When I am down there next I will take a picture of the collection, and post it.

So in the last year, I have taken more flights than I ever thought I would, AND ever wanted to!! Every time I get on a airplane, I have to stop myself from thinking "This is not right! How can a tin can that weighs as much as it does fly in the sky at 35,000 feet!" It is not logical! It does not make sense to me at all! And your right, I do not understand the the law of aerodynamics!
Every little bump has me thinking that the plane is going to fall right out of the sky. I try and get as tired as I can be, so I can sleep for most of the flight. (It's much easier now that the kids are older... :) I also very rarely look out the window, unless we are landing.
I also realize that when it is my turn to go, then it's time to go. ...And I am not talking about the toilet here! ;) I also know that God will take care of all of us. But it's still what I think about every time I get on a plane.
Anyway, on our flight from Bali to Timika this morning, (We leave at 2:30 am! and its a 3+ hour flight) I woke up with about an hour left of the flight. The sun was just coming up. As I was looking out the window, I saw the most spectacular clouds! I just couldn't stop looking! There was a huge layer of clouds below us, with towers of clouds popping up all around us.
I could not get up to get my big camera. Gabby was sound to sleep on my lap. So I used the camera on my phone to capture the scenery. Sorry for the glare from the window..... Believe me, these pictures do not do it justice, but hopefully you will get the picture. :)

After watching the clouds for a bit the plane started to turn. It normally doesn't do that at this point in the flight... So I was scratching my head, wondering what was going on. Then this cloud came in to view on the left side of my window. It was massive! What the pilot was doing was steering us around this cloud. I got pictures of the cloud before and after, but nothing while we were passing it by. It was soooo cool to see!

Now we are past our great "pillar" cloud, and after the sun got higher in the sky, this is what the sky looked like. :)

That was the last picture I took of the clouds, because now it was time to turn off all electronics.... Let me tell you, I was glad I looked out the window this morning. I saw some awesome aspects of God's creation. I will also say, when we hit a bit of turbulence, I was fine with it. (That was probably because I was watching what was going on outside. :) And I also ask God for peace every time I fly... :)
So now I am back home, and back the the "real world" of everyday life. (That is code for I may not get some blog posts done for a while!) The kids and I leave for the states in three weeks!! Yeah!!! I am a great mom and pulling them out of school two weeks early! ;) If we are only getting back to the States once a year, six weeks just isn't long enough! So until next time....

Rats, Rats, and More Rats!

As Gabrielle and I were waiting for our flight, in Bali, early this morning, we were greatly entertained by the massive amounts of RATS we saw. So finally I got out my camera and started snapping photos.
Now I know some of you will think this is gross, but you all want to know about our life in Indonesia! :)

I mean, really, get some rat poison, or a CAT! See, life isn't all glamorous over here! :)

Passing the Time...

This past week we had orthodontist and doctor appointments in Cairns. Teddy is on an every six month check-up now, so he did not have to go. Mersades and Gavin only had 15 minute appointments each. Gabrielle needed two appointments to be fitted for a retainer, and I had a doctors appointment. Because of Mersades and Gavin's quick appointments, Chris flew down with us on Monday, and then flew back with Mersades and Gavin that same day. Gabby and I were to stay until Thursday, which was the next Airfast flight. Well late Wednesday afternoon, we were notified that the plane was "broken", and we would have to wait until Monday's flight. There is only this plane that flies from Timika to Cairns. Usually it flies once a week, but once a month a Thursday flight is thrown in.
Because our appointments were all done, and we are leaving for the States in three weeks, and because everything in Cairns is at least twice as expensive as it is in the States, I didn't really want to spend four extra days there.
So because we were on medical, the company paid for us to take the long way home. That is, we flew from Cairns to Darwin to Bali, back to Timika. It took us about 24 hours to get home, but at least we are home now!
Anyway, to pass the time, Gabby and I spent a lot of time at the park. One day I took my camera and these are the pictures of Gabby playing.

Teddy's PYP Exhibition

The Primary Year's Program (PYP) is a curriculum that is used in many international schools. In grade 5, the students have to do their "Exhibition" in order to complete the requirements of the PYP. This year, Teddy was the ONE lucky 5th grader who had to do the exhibition. (Teddy's only other class mate, Ty moved a couple months ago.) To help Teddy out, so he would not have to do it on his own, the 4th grades did a watered down version of the exhibition. Next year they will have to do the full blown exhibition.
I can tell you that Teddy's project was about bringing a better "quality of life" to the kids in Tembag. I can't tell you all the details... Bad memory! Don't get me wrong, the kids of Tembagapura have a great "quality of life".... What Teddy was trying to identify, in his project, is what other activities can be brought in like football, rock climbing, volleyball, etc. for the kids to be involved in, in Tembagapura.
It is a pretty big project for the 5th graders. I would equate it to having to do a science fair project when I was growing up. Teddy did way better at his exhibition, than I did at my science project! :)

Teddy had two mentors during his project, Mr and Mrs C. Mr. C is the PE teacher I wrote about in a previous post. Mrs. C is Mersades language/arts teacher. They had really nice things to say about Tedders. :)

Here is Teddy with his classmates, the 4th graders, and his Teacher Mr. M. They all sang a song to close the night.

After the song, our Vice Principal, gave Mr. M a Principal's award.... And I quote "For his Awesomeness! Because Mr. M is an Awesome teacher!" :)

Next up, his proud parents..... :) Teddy came to get us out of the crowd during the singing of their song.

And finally, Teddy and his most AWESOME teacher.... Mr. M! Mr. M has been such a great influence on Teddy this year. He is highly respected, and I am truly greatful for Mr. M being such a great example for Teddy!

Oh, and one more thing about this night. You see the shirts the kids, 4th and 5th graders, have on? Teddy designed them! The flags represent the nationalities of the students in the class. Their symbol they designed for their project, is on their right shirt sleeve.

Easter 2011!

On Easter morning we woke up at 3:00 AM to get ready, to celebrate Easter with the Indonesian Christians. There is a tradition in Tembagapura to have a torch parade, through town just before sunrise, to kick off the Easter celebration. Last year we miss it, so this year we made sure we were there to partake in the festivities.

Needless to say, the kids were not all that thrilled to wake up that early, but once they found out they got to "play" with fire, they perked up a bit.

The people... Some had just gotten off work. Some were on their way to work. But all took a moment out of their day to celebrate our Risen Savior!

So when the parade through town was finished, all who participated, and all who wanted to, met on the soccer field for some morning coffee and treats. They also stayed and listened to the Christian band that was playing Easter songs.

Hiking With the Family

Easter weekend we decide to do the "walk" from Tembagapura to Hidden Valley as a family. We thought it was a great day for all of us to go. It was overcast and not too terribly hot. So off we go. This picture is the family starting down (the only time we go down on this "walk") from our house.

We then pick up the "Coolest Dude" in all of Tembagapura..... The kids PE teacher.... Mr. C... for "Cool"!

We then pick up two more people..... Yes! Two!..... You may need to take a closer look! And I an not talking about the two standing in the back ground either!
(Just kidding, they did not walk up the hill with us... :)

So we leave Tembag and head up...

Chris has to stop along the way and give Mr. C a geology lesson! There was a land slide there the night before.

Then Gabby gets tired.... And dad the "super hero" comes to the rescue!

Ooh La La.... He is soooo STRONG! The rest of the kids are thinking to themselves.... Why wasn't I born last?!?!?!? :)

During rest time, Dad entertains the kids by throwing rocks over the side of the mountain. There is a huge drop off there. I practice taking "action" shots with my new camera...

Now remember at the start of this post, I said it was overcast? As we started the climb, the sun came out and it got very hot! Only Chris and I had hats to shade our faces. So needless to say, the kid were very hot. I ended up giving Gabby my hat because she didn't even have her hair in a pony tail! I ended up getting burned! OUCH!

Well, we finally made it! It had to have been the slowest time I have ever had walking the hill. But it was probably the most fun!

And She's Off...

This year the middle school is off to Borneo, Malaysia! The kids left early this morning, to the low lands, on the chopper. They then fly to Jakarta and then on to Malaysia tomorrow. Mersades will be back next Sunday. We will all have to wait, until then, for more pictures. But for now, here are the pictures from the helipad this morning. Take care, and God bless!

My New Toy!

I am very excited to get to know my new toy! Chris got me this awesome camera to take awesome pictures (like the one below) of all of our adventures. Now the only problem I have to figure out is... How to use it! That and figure out what is wrong with "Blogger"! I once again canNOT get my pictures to upload from my computer. The crazy thing is, I can get post done through my phone! While in Bali, you can get a driver to drive you anywhere you want all day for a very low price. The more you get him to drive you around, the cheaper the price gets. So one night after we were done eating at a restaurant, Wayan gave us a ride home. That's when the love affair began with his car. :D All week now, we have been chauffeured around in the most decked out car in Bali! I know you are jealous!! :D

Feet and Fish

When we were in Singapore, the kids and Chris discovered they loved to have their feet eaten by fish! In Bali, there is a fish spa on every corner. So once again they all submerged their feet in the fish tanks and enjoyed some fish therapy. I do not partake in this, my feet are too ticklish!

A friend of ours found this little number up the street from us and came and got Chris to take care of it. We were not sure if it was poisonous or not, so Chris took it across the street and asked some worker guys if it was. The all took a step back and said HATI-HATI!! We took that as a "YES"!
Chris was going to chuck it over the fence, but because we have the "HoChiMin" trail behind our house, I told him it would be better if we buried it. Better to be safe than to have someone step on it. And because of our snake training from watching all those Discovery snake shows, snakes are still venomous after they are dead!
It is also very much uncommon to find snakes up this high. It is too cold for them, and there is no food for them up here. If a snake is found up here, it is usually because they hitched a ride up on one of the supply trucks. It is the first that I have seen in over a year of living here. Hopefully it will be my last!!! :)

Sorry all that it has taken me so long to get something up on the blog. I have not been able to upload any pictures in Tembagapura, probably because of the slow Internet connection, so I waited until I got back to civilization to update the blog. We are currently in Cairns for another round of orthodontists appointments, and heading back today. So I better get in gear and get something on here...... Or, I may not have any "fans" left! ;)

Not a lot has been happening with the family other than Chris working, the kids going to school, and Me, well everyone knows I just play all day! I finally found time in my very busy schedule to go with a friend down to Banti (a native village out side of Tembag). Every Tuesday she goes down to the hospital to play with the kids who are in the hospital, who have "minor" illnesses. I figured it would be a fun thing for me to do, and who knows, I may get to hold a baby or two!! :)

Here are the kids, (And their moms... The moms stay with the kids in the hospital.) waiting for us to get all the toys out.

These are the most valuable things in the village. Pigs!!! If you hit a pig and kill it, or just kill it in general, the pigs value is around $1000 USD!!! The killing of pigs, have started many a wars! A friend of ours, who lived here when he was Mersades age, said that one of the Chiefs offered something like 15 pigs, to his dad, in trade for his mom!! His mom has beautiful red hair, so she is very valuable. Blond hair isn't quite as valuable, but close. Hmmmm, makes me wonder how many pigs I am worth???? :)

What a great experience I had going to Banti. I am hoping to repeat it once a week, or once every other week. I couldn't go the last time I was suppose to go because I was sick. Not a good thing for me or for them. So we will try next week, and hope for the best.

Insanity!!!

Question: You know what the definition of INSANITY is....????

Answer: Doing the same thing OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and (you get the picture...) again and expecting different results!

Well, the "Australia Zoo" post, I have been trying to get that uploaded since December 2010!!! I have rewritten it many times.... because it didn't save. I thought I had deleted the whole post.... but it still showed up in my "saved" posts. I have tried to get the spacing right between the pictures many, many times. And finally.... What you see below, is what finally posted!! What a MESS!!

I have no idea if it is our very crummy internet connection, or if something is going on with blogger.com, and blogger won't let me post from another country. So in about 10 days, the kids and I head back to Australia for orthodontists appointments, and I will try to "touch up" the Australia Zoo post.

Until then, you will just have to deal with it being a mess.... And so will I.

Speaking of the blog being a mess, did anyone see that the "A Bugsy's Life" banner is gone?? Yup, don't know where it went! I have also designed two new banners to put in it's place, but for some reason they won't upload either. So I guess I will just have to wait until I get back to civilization....

Until then.... the insane Bug is checking out for the night. Maybe a sane Bug will wake up in the morning and get to some new posts.

Australia Zoo... CRIKEY!

When the kids were younger, we would watch "Crocodile Hunter" every Saturday morning as a family, and then watch it every other time we saw it was on TV. To say the least, we were HUGE fans! We were also all a little sad when we found out our favorite snake and crocodile wrangler died. Saturday mornings were not going to be the same!

So when we were telling the kids that we were looking at moving to Indonesia, we were getting them excited by telling them of all the places we could take them because of our awesome travel allowance. The one place that got them really excited was Australia Zoo!

So the day after Christmas, the reality of seeing Steve Irwin's Zoo came to be for all of us. We were super excited!

When we got to the information desk where you signed up for a private tour, Robert Irwin was standing there. (He is the little guy with the white blond hair.)
(I am finally in civilization and can fix this post!!!)

We then went to the Crocasium to watch the feeding of the crocodiles. Bindi was the first act in the show. She fed the elephants then did five of her musical numbers for the crowd.

Because it was during the school break in Australia, the Irwin family was at the zoo. Teri had family in from the states, so the VIP area was pretty full. Wes was also there. :)

After the bird and reptile show, the Irwin family came out to feed the crocs!

This building is "Steve's Lair" from the Crocodile Hunter: Croc Files show. It was cool to see in person what we have always seen on TV.

The Australia Zoo was AWESOME! It had always been a dream of ours to go and see it when the kids were younger. (Like they are way old now! ha ha) It was also a little sad being there and knowing that our favorite croc hunter is no longer here. We will always remember our Saturday mornings, sitting on the couch in the living room, watching Steve's show as a family. This was definitely one of the best highlights of our Christmas vacation in Australia!

One Year!

It's hard to believe, but we have now lived in Papua, Indonesia for one year!! It's been a great year for our family. We have done so many new things. We miss the USA lots, but we are enjoying our time in Indonesia.

As most people know, my parents flew over to meet us in Australia for Christmas. While we we there, we spent time in Cairns, Gold Coast, and Sydney.

We spent the first three days in Cairns to get all our Doctor and Orthodontist appointments out of the way. The next stop was the Gold Coast (south of Brisbane). That is where we spent Christmas... in a hotel. That is where these pictures come from....

After scouring the stores, my mom and I found a tree.... A very SMALL tree.... A very GOLD tree... but it was a tree nevertheless! :)

On top of the hotel we were staying at, was a revolving restaurant. This is where we spent Christmas Eve. There was no oyster stew or BBQ's, but the sea food (according to everyone else because I don't eat sea food) and steak was great! And no, we did not sing Um Ya Ya! Although we were tempted! :D

Wow, even presents showed up Christmas morning!

So, while we were planning our vacation in AU, everyone of our AU friends in Tembagapura told us how HOT it would be! Well let me tell you.... There was NO heat! It rained for the first TWO weeks we were there! But don't let that stop us! Christmas morning after breakfast, we spent time in the hot tub. We were the only ones in the pool area, but Tidak Massala (No Worries/Problem)! What's a little rain when we usually are up to our eyeballs in SNOW!

It's still raining, but what's up next on our things to do list?? Go to the beach! I think we had a dry spell here, for all of five minutes. Because my hair is still dry!

The rain has started again, but we are having fun! :)

Singapore

Playing catch-up again....

In November we had a last minute trip to Singapore to get our visas renewed so we wouldn't be illegal in Indonesia. So the company sends us to Singapore for a couple of days. It takes longer flying back and forth than the time spent in Singapore. But no worries, it was still fun to get to explore a little bit of Singapore!

We arrived, at what I believe to be the best time of the year, just after the Christmas decorations had been put up. Singapore goes all out! This first picture was taken the night we arrived. Their streets are just full of lights! And pretty much each street had a theme and decoration scheme.

There is "high end" shopping all over the place in Singapore. Mersades wanted her picture taken in front of this sign. Hope it is NOT a sign of things to come!! :)
